Sofas and living room in Addis Ababa

The sofa is the largest furniture buy in most Addis Ababa homes. Local workshops build sofa sets to order in fabric or leather, and import showrooms sell finished sets from China, Turkey and Dubai. A local set lets you choose the size, the fabric and the colour. An imported set is ready the same day, but you get only the sizes on the floor. Sit on the sofa before you pay. Ask what the frame is made of, how dense the foam is and whether the fabric cover comes off for cleaning. Measure your door, stairs and lift before you order a large L shape sofa. The stores below sell sofas, armchairs, coffee tables and TV stands. Call ahead to check stock and prices.
